We Need Your Help!

UPDATE: The weather has been challenging this weekend with snow, wind and rain forcing an early closing but all dogs at the Saturday event are in foster and waiting for their chance to find a home today!! Today's weather is predicted to be a high of 48 degrees and no snow (whew!)
Our tent collapsed in the night but a few of us had gone back to get all the kennels etc. out before it came down. All dogs were out in foster or slumbering peacefully at Mill Pond Vet Hospital.
Today we're going to need as many hands as we can get at the site - we'll move all of our items we were trying to sell out of the pavilion and make the first trailer run back to Essex. At the same time we'll get a temp set up for the adoption event under the pavilion – it will by "cozy" (a real estate term for crowded..)
This is the second event we've had during major "weather" so our chances for any substantial fundraising this weekend is zero. Looking for a small freezer to buy so we may store foods donated or bought for the event. If you know of one please send me an email.
"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds". Dog Days will be ready for adoptions at 11:00am - let's do this.

Transports are On Time

First one due into Branford around 8:00am, it's gonna be cold!!!

Volunteer Registration This Thursday!

If you're going to help us this weekend with the dogs please don't forget to register this Thursday night between 5 and 7 at the Branford Elk's Club. Registration will only take about 30 minutes and then you're ready to go! We'll also have ranger training from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for those who are interested. We're going to cover the material quickly so please be on time, we'll meet at the Elks Club. See you Thursday!!

Well, It Had to Happen!!

We were chuckling a month ago about how every Dog Days Event seems to have some kind of weather drama: heat wave (Essex), wind (Guilford), Tornado (Ledyard), Hurricane (Killingworth) and what do you think is left? Yes, you guessed it, a blizzard. Ok, so I guess maybe not a blizzard this weekend but it's going to be too cold to heat our tent for the dogs to stay in overnight. We need foster homes ASAP – if you can take a pup or two, Friday night especially, please email Mary at volunteer@godogdays.org and she'll take your contact information. Thank you for lending us (them) a hand, you'll be thanked many times over with appreciative licks and a wagging tail!!

Ranger Training Today!

If you're interested in working closely with rescue groups and their dogs Ranger training is for you. Today from 1 to 4 at the Guilford Public Library!

St. Mary's School is Coming with Caramel Apples!

I spoke with the 7th and 8th grade students at St. Mary's school in Branford this week, what a great group of kids and what a fantastic school! They're going to help us with our fundraisers by making caramel apples and volunteering during the event weekend. Can't wait to see them all there!

Dogs are Ready!

And so are we...almost – wish I could say we've got this all together but there are a few last minute details, well, maybe more than a few but this is going to be the best Dog Days yet – and we need your help, please tell your friends and sign up to volunteer...we're nothing without people who care enough to help us put on this event!
